2013 Silicon Valley StartUp Cup Winners Announced

1AllTeamsThree startups were named top winners of the Second Annual Silicon Valley StartUp Cup Business Model Competition on Thursday, November 21, 2013.

The Awards Celebration was held as the final event of the seven-month competition. 25 business models were initially selected to participate and through a series of pitches to judges and coaching sessions those 25 were narrowed down to seven finalists.

The three winning business models are:

  • FIRST PLACE: Tangerine+  Nancy McKereghan and Jenifer Bacon
    Tangerine+ provides cloud-based displays showing real-time energy data as a compelling and interactive experience, designed to effectively publicize our clients’ commitment to alternative energy and the environment. We offer a full set of services from concept to delivery and on-going maintenance, streamlining the process for our partners and their customers.
  • SECOND PLACE: Caked with Love  Ryan Flanigan and Amber Yang
    Caked With Love is a mobile cake and cupcake catering company. We allow everyone to choose their own combination of cake and frosting flavors, customized for every occasion.
  • THIRD PLACE: Cranium Shield  Justin Wright, Lam Dinh, Ross Holman and Brian Knott
    Cranium Shield provides radiation protection devices for the heads of doctors and patients exposed to ionizing radiation from medical imaging devices, such as x-ray, CT, and mammogram machines. Cranium Shields have been field tested at Stanford Hospital and the team has received idea validation from industry professionals, including practicing radiologists and dentists.

2014 Silicon Valley StartUp Cup will kick-off April 2014.

Awards Celebration on November 21, 2013

The top seven finalists in the Second Annual Silicon Valley StartUp Cup Business Model Competition have made their final pitches to the StartUp Cup judges and it is time to learn which three entrepreneurs will be named the top winners in this seven month competition.

The Awards Celebration is free and open to the public.
